US officials' trip to Qatar is unrelated to the Iranian delegation's visit to Doha, and no discussions with the US are set to occur in the near future, according to an Iranian Foreign Ministry representative.
Doha (Pakistan Point News - 29th June, 2026) Iran has dismissed the idea of engaging with the US in Doha. Reports indicate that this response from Iran follows the announcement by the US President regarding negotiations with Iran in Doha. The spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry remarked in a statement that the US officials’ trip to Qatar is not connected to the Iranian delegation's visit to Doha, and no discussions with the US are anticipated to commence shortly.
A technical delegation from Iran is scheduled to arrive in Qatar this week to talk about executing the Memorandum of Understanding. The current focus for Iran is to ensure the follow-up on the execution of this Memorandum of Understanding. As stated by the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, no preliminary discussions have started for a final agreement, as certain aspects of the Memorandum of Understanding need to be executed first.
In another development, the White House confirmed that US President's special envoy Steve Witkoff and adviser Jared Kushner will engage in high-level discussions with Iranian officials in Doha, Qatar’s capital.
White House spokesperson Caroline Levitt mentioned that they would partake in significant meetings related to the ongoing negotiations concerning the memorandum of understanding. Alongside these high-level discussions, there will also be technical discussions to assess progress on various matters. Previously, President Donald Trump mentioned that Iran had requested a meeting, and these discussions between the two nations are expected to take place in Doha on Tuesday.
Right after the US President's statement, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibadi refuted the US assertion, indicating that there were no arrangements for any meetings with US officials in Qatar. Now, the spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry has similarly rejected the notion of discussions with the US in Doha.
